LIGHT+LIFE | APRIL 2025

“There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called to one hope when you were called; one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all.” (Ephesians 4:4-6)

God Is Working

Jeremy had what looked like a successful life on the outside, but he began to sense there had to be more—more to give, more to become. That desire led him to quit drinking in search of clarity. But life took a painful turn when his wife unexpectedly asked for a divorce, and a few months later, he was involved in a serious accident after relapsing. It was the lowest point of his life. But it was also where God met him.

Through deep pain, Jeremy began to experience transformation as he heard about Jesus in a way he hadn’t before. He found Bright City and immediately felt a connection. He also found support through Celebrate Recovery. For the first time, he surrendered and asked God to guide him—and everything changed. God brought healing to his heart, surrounded him with a supportive community, and began restoring his life in surprising ways.

His story is still being written and there are still challenges to navigate. Through baptism, Jeremy publicly declared his faith in Jesus and the new life he’s receiving—one filled with purpose, hope, and the grace of a God who has always been with him and never gives up on him.

A few weeks ago, we celebrated baptisms during a Sunday gathering.

This is what it is all about—God drawing people closer Himself and helping more people experience life in Jesus.

All glory to Him.

What are child dedications? Learn more about what it means for parents, kids, and our church family.

We recently have been uploading our video teachings from our Ephesians series to YouTube. If you prefer to connect that way, give us a follow or watch online. Soon you can expect to start having new teachings available each week.

You can also still find our audio teachings podcast on Spotify or Apple.

On April 27th, we’re starting a new series called “Your Are Spiritual” about identifying and embracing how the Holy Spirit works through our life. The “supernatural” should be “natural” for a follower of Jesus because we all have access to God’s Spirit. But are we willing to take the risk to open ourselves to the ways the Spirit wants to work through us?

We’ll spend six weeks teaching and practicing how to engage the Holy Spirit through:

  • Scripture + Truth

  • Prayer + Discernment

  • Prophecy + Words

  • Healing + Miracles

  • Love + Witness

A great companion for this series would be “The Familiar Stranger” book or podcast by Tyler Staton.

Easter: April 20th

You’re invited to our first Easter celebration at Bright City Church!

We believe the most important event in history is the resurrection of Jesus, and that his power is still working in us today. You’re invited to experience God at work in your life too.

Come to the gathering at 9AM on Sunday, April 20th at Big Walnut Intermediate School in Sunbury.

Do you feel stuck in a busy season, always longing for rest but never truly refreshed? In our fast-paced culture, we often live overwhelmed. But what if this isn’t God’s best for us? You’re invited to attend for Made for Rest, a spring retreat at Summit Bechtel Reserve (WV) on April 25-26. Sarah Taylor (speaker) will guide us in slowing down and embracing God’s gift of rest.

How to Pray

  • Pray for our local impact team and volunteers as we organize service projects and community events for this summer.

  • Pray for the Holy Spirit to work in our community and work through us—specifically at our Easter and Good Friday Gatherings, and our next series “You Are Spiritual.”

  • Pray for people exploring Bright City and looking to become part of the family. Since our launch Sunday (10 weeks ago), we have had 103 people connect in way they have let us know who they are—to begin praying for them and interacting with them.
