“[In the Beatitudes], Jesus is not prescribing how to be blessed, but rather describing who is blessed. It is not a to-do list; it is a good news list.” (Skye Jethani)

The Best Day of the Summer

Super Saturday truly lived up to its name—it was the best day of the summer! On July 12, Big Walnut Intermediate was buzzing with excitement as 50+ kids from kindergarten through 5th grade came together for a full day of games, bounce houses, relay races, mystery-solving, dancing, and high-energy rally times.

Kids were in squads led by incredible student and adult leaders who encouraged, cheered, and invested in them all day long. Every activity wasn’t just about fun—it was about helping kids discover their identity, build new friendships, and learn that God has them on a special mission because they matter deeply to Him.

The day wrapped with an unforgettable family bubble foam party. But the true highlight came during our rally times, where we shared about Jesus and His love. We’re celebrating that 12 kids made the decision to follow Jesus!

Huge thanks to our incredible team of volunteers, parents, and everyone who made this event possible—what a day to remember! We’ll see you again next year for more.

Grace Wooster Student Team

We are overflowing with gratitude for the middle school students and adult leaders from Grace Church in Wooster who came to serve alongside us!

From landscaping, painting, and cleaning out the Sixty One Building during Serve Day, to volunteering at Super Saturday, and even jumping in to help with our Sunday Gathering—they gave their time, energy, and hearts to bless our church and community. Their hard work made a huge impact, and their joy in serving reminded us what it looks like when the body of Christ comes together for the sake of the Kingdom.

Thank you, Grace Wooster student team—you made an incredible difference!

Volunteer on a Team

Every Sunday and throughout the week, it takes a team of passionate people to create the spaces where others can experience life in Jesus. From welcoming guests, teaching kids, and setting up our gathering space, to leading worship and serving in our community—there’s a place for everyone to contribute.

This is your invitation to jump in, discover your gifts, and make a real impact—because when you serve, you don’t just fill a role, you help build the family.

Explore the “Volunteer Team Fit Guide” to learn more about what team/roles would be a good fit for you. Then fill out the “Volunteer Team Interest Form” to get connected with our team leaders to learn more about what it looks like to get involved.

You don’t have to commit to volunteering right away until you learn more and try things out. You also don’t have to volunteer on the same team/role indefinitely. Our team leaders are flexible and want to find the best fit for you!

Communication Survey

If Bright City is your home church, take a minute to fill out this short survey with feedback so our communication team can better know how to keep people informed and in the loop.

Move Up Weekend | August 17th

Move Up Weekend is the Sunday when every child “moves up” their grade/age to the classroom for the upcoming school year. Not every child will change classrooms—only those whose grade/age moves them into a new classroom. Here is breakdown of all Kid City classrooms happening this Fall:

  • The Infant Classroom welcomes little ones ages 0 to 2 years old

  • The Toddler Classroom is home for children 2 to 4 years old.

  • The Pre-K/Kindergarten Classroom is for kids 4 to 6 years old.

  • The Elementary Classroom is for those entering 1st through 3rd grade.

  • We’re also thrilled to launch our brand-new Intermediate Classroom for 4th and 5th graders—starting August 17th!

Move Up Weekend is the perfect time to cheer on our kids as they grow, learn, and experience life in Jesus in their new spaces.

Backyard Family BBQ | August 10th at 1:00PM

Anyone is invited to this final backyard BBQ hosted at the Anderson’s home in Marengo. RSVP to let us know you’re coming, get the address, and bring something to share!

The Generous Heart of God

On August 17th We start a new series: The Generous Heart of God.

Generosity is more than an occasional act of kindness—it’s the very nature of God. From the beginning of creation to the gift of Jesus and the promise of eternal life, God has poured out His love with open hands. But His generosity was never meant to stop with us; it’s meant to flow through us.

In this series, we’ll explore what it really means to have a heart shaped by the generosity of God. We’ll discover that generosity is not limited to money—it’s about every part of our lives: our time, our talents, and our treasures. Together we’ll learn what Scripture says about living free from the pull of greed, finding true joy and contentment, and seeing giving not as an obligation but as an invitation to participate in God’s work in the world.

Follow along with the series on our teaching podcasts — Spotify / Apple / YouTube

How to Pray

  • Pray for our volunteer teams. As we continue to grow on Sundays, open up a new kids classroom, and increase our impact in the community—we need more volunteers using their gifts on all our teams.

  • Pray for increased generosity as our church grows. We still rely on external financial support from others. We are grateful for the radical generosity we received this past year and continue to work toward becoming a self-supporting church by 2027.

  • Pray for our staff team as the Taylor family and Tuckerman family take vacations in the month of August to have rest and come back rejuvenated for the next season of ministry. Also pray for Elijah as he finishes his internship this month.

  • Pray for our MC leaders preparing in August to gather and launch their missional communities this Fall. Missional Communities are the greatest relational impact we make on our people at Bright City and the people in our community.
