LIGHT+LIFE | JUNE 2025
“The message of Jesus himself and of the early disciples was not one just of forgiveness of sins, but rather one of newness of life.” (Dallas Willard)
A Story of Healing
We just wrapped up our “You are Spiritual” series where we discovered what it looks like to engage the power of the Holy Spirit and invite God’s power to work through our lives. One of our conversations in the series centered on The Holy Spirit’s power to heal.
Kelly has been coming to Bright City since we launched. But she suffered debilitating back pain for months. Doctors told her she would need a surgery to resolve the issue that was unaffordable for her. She came on a Sunday where we invited people to receive prayer with someone from our team. She stepped out to ask for prayer that day. Before she left, two leaders at Bright City separately prayed for her to experience relief from her back pain.
A few weeks later, Kelly came back on a Sunday. When asked how her back was feeling, she exclaimed, “My pain is completely gone! I can’t explain it, but I feel completely better!” The week after she had asked for prayer, she began to experience relief from her back pain. Now the pain is completely gone and she is no longer in need of surgery.
Praise God for his power to heal!

New Teaching Series: Be the Light
Jesus said, “You are the light of the world—like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden… Let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father.” (Matthew 5:14, 16)
On June 8th, we are starting a new teaching series called Be the Light. We are going to explore what Jesus meant when he said we are “the light of the world.” Who does Jesus calls us to “be a light” to in the world? And what does that look like live like Jesus toward others in our everyday lives? We are called to participate in God’s heart and mission—the love and rescue the world through Jesus.

Annual Budget/Operations Meeting | June 22nd at 8:00PM
On Sunday, June 22nd at 8:00pm, Bright City will have an Annual Budget and Operations Meeting. Anyone is invited to tune in, ask questions, and learn more about how our first year went starting Bright City and where we are going for our next fiscal year (2025-2026).
Our budget is developed by our staff, elders, and team leaders to plan for financial needs in the upcoming year. The budget is shared with our church family for explanation/discussion and is approved by our elders.
Bright City is a church plant (startup) on trajectory to become financially self-sustaining by 2027. We currently rely on the support of churches, organizations, and individuals in addition to our church family.
If you would like to join this meeting virtually, you can use the link below.
If you would like to give financially to support Bright City, you can learn more here.
Baptism Sunday | June 29th

How to Pray
Pray for our leadership team (staff, elders, team leaders, and MC leaders) working to scale and strengthen our church as it grows. We are asking God to raise up new leaders and volunteers to help alongside us. We also need to make wise decisions, strategies, and systems to help keep moving toward our goals. Many of us will be on a leadership retreat from June 12-14. Pray it is refreshing and beneficial!
Pray for our opportunities for local impact this summer. We will be volunteering at major events in the Big Walnut community, serving our local partners, and hosting our first ever Super Saturday event for kids (kindergarten to 5th grade) on July 12th. A team of middle schoolers from Grace Church in Wooster are also preparing to do a “mission trip” with Bright City in July!
Pray for relationships and conversations happening through summer circles, our neighborhoods, and people who need to experience life in Jesus. In this next series (“Be the Light”) we are challenging every person at Bright City to be praying for three people who need to experience life in Jesus they can make a direct impact in their life.
